Continuing the saga... :) gotta smile else I'd cry!
Does anyone have an explanation?
For the search term loan servicing software
http://www.disc-calif.com
PR5 - 8 Inbound links (ignoring internal links) SERP #18
to
http://www.lendersupport.com/Servicer/CompanyIntroduction.html
PR4 - 1 inbound link (ignoring internal links) SERP #6
I know you guys are busy people but, Obi Wan SEO people... you are my
only hope! What can be changed about the construction of the
www.disc-calif.com site that would better suit Google's algorithm?..
Anybody got any ideas? Have I over optimised?
Happy Holidays from a grey laden skied Sheffield, England... send
sunshine! :)
Sincere thanks in advance...

I'm actually built a bit more like Jaba the Hut.

Don't pay too much attention to the number of inbound links Google
reports. They are not too accurate. Yahoo shows 16 IBLs for
lendersupport.com/Servicer/CompanyIntroduction.html.
It is not all about page rank of the IBLs either. It is important but
only if everything else is right.
SEODave wrote this earlier in the thread:
"Look at the anchor text of your IBLs, for example those from
http://www.loanledger.com/ (which I assume your client owns) has the
anchor text disc-calif.com which is a very poor choice. You want the
Loan Servicing Software SERP, use that exact phrase and derivatives
for the links to the page you want to rank highly.
I didn't see any decent links with the right anchor text, so most of
the SERP (position 18) is most likely to do with on page site factors,
basically your IBLs aren't working for you!"
Nothing has changed since SEODave made those remarks. That is by far
the most important advice you were given. That is what will make a
difference.
Your inbound links still show that they predominantly contain the anchor
text Dynamic Systems Interface Corporation. They need to contain the
anchor text loan servicing software, just like the links to the #1 page
in that serp.
If you have already changed the links, then you'll just have to wait
until Google recognizes those changes. If you didn't change those IBL's
or add some that are correct, then don't delay - do that now!
I'm glad you mentioned "ignoring internal links" since the search
engines are. It looks like you are not spreading the PR throughout your
site. I'd say that your site is your greatest potential source of PR.
Your internal links are relative. I would suggest changing them to
absolute. That should make a substantial improvement.
I think that it would be a good idea to add a site map too - one that
really helps human visitors but should help with internal linking too.
Hopefully the sun breaks through the gray sky.
