Just what convinces you the Googlebot would treat Blogger sites
different that other sites? Blogs *usually* will be visited more
regularly that "normal" web pages simply because they have a high
update frequency.

This won't help, really, unless you are about to guestbook-spam the web.

To create redundant content? Why?

Yes, slightly. It's actually mainly irrelevant unless your blog gains a
higher PageRank than your current site.

It doesn't really matter at this stage...

When will you start to try think about your human visitors?

Seriously, if SEO would be this easy, Google results would contain
*nothing but irrelevant spam*. Everybody and their mother can create 10
blogs to point to their own site. It's not really relevant and creates
spam on the web. Yes, if you can create 1000 domains crosslinking you
might be successful for a short time. Maybe you even fool Yahoo. But
one blog?

Hello Philipp,

Thanks for your comments. I gather that you think it is a bad SEO idea.
Actually, I thought about doing this based on another persons post on this
group. Let me explain what I am trying to do.

My website is doing well for most of my keywords www.usernomics.com . But
one of my keywords is at 29 and I wanted to see if I could improve the
ranking for this one keyword.

Most of my website caters to a professional community and my rankings are a
result of offering valuable content. But my real goal is to get consulting
inquiries and they generally come from a different group in the business
world.

I currently have a news page that aggregates articles for these professional
topics. I was thinking about creating an RSS feed for these news articles as
a service to the visitors and the hope of getting more publicity for that
one keyword that I want to move up in the rankings. But I didn't want to
have to enter the content twice (for the html and the rss feed).

Then I saw that with a Blogger blog and the Blogit feature on the Google
toolbar, you can highlight your HTML and it will automatically be entered
into the Blog and the Blog will be able to be an RSS feed as well. So with
little effort, you can have a Blog and an RSS feed based on the HTML page.

So, with this capability I started to think about SEO and my one keyword
that I would like to move up in the rankings. My thought was to point parts
of the Blog and RSS to the specific HTML page that is dedicated to that
keyword. My hope was that the backlinking would help from an SEO viewpoint.

From a readers point of view there is no benefit but no harm. And now I
gather that you feel that I would be wasting my time and bandwidth to do
this for SEO purposes.

Do you think there is any SEO benefit given this objective?

Thanks,

Bob

Phillip,

Quote from your blog:

"From where I'm searching, this blog is now number one (and two) for
Seraphim Proudleduck. If we can keep this position - which possibly
will be harder than getting there - I will pass on the full prize
money to one of those who linked to here."

So obvioulsy you think the blog is of some value, depise yor harse
criticism of Bobs ambitions of starting a blog. He is obviously new at
this.

You have a number one position and at least 30,000 backlinks.

How about giving the man a pointer or two?
Throw the dog a bone.

One other thing. You stated keyword rich Urls are only important for
guestbook spam.

Not true. When another sites link to you where you have no control over
the anchor text it is also important.

Many sites now have a section called "additional resources" or
something similiar that are serps pulled from the engines. A keyword
rich URL would also be helpful in those cases.

Also you said "when will you think about human visitors"

He is.

It is possible to do SEO and content at the same time.

This forum is about SEO. Thats why you will see a question concerning
SEO now and again. That doesnt mean content is thrown out the window.

Thanks Tim.

Do you think that a Blog and/or an RSS feed coming from a Blogger.com URL
(rather than my website URL) will help my SEO if there are multiple
backlinks to the relevant webpage?

I don't think the Blog itself will get much attention or backlinks to it,
but the search engines will pick up the Blog and RSS feed with their
backlinks to my website.

Am I way off the mark here? I don't want to waste my time since this would
be a daily exercise.

Thanks Again,

Bob
